Colts Owner Says Peyton Manning Will Be "Out For Awhile"

x You have successfully emailed the post. Peyton ManningIndianapolis fans hoping that Peyton Manning's Week 1 sit down would only be temporary are in for a rude awakening, as Colts Jim Irsay tweeted this morning that the star QB will be "out for awhile."

Late yesterday an Indy radio station floated the rumor that Manning, who had neck surgery in May, secretly had a second procedure this week and would be out for the entire season.

Irsay (and several other reporters) quickly shot that down, but it's clear that his recovery is not going well.

If Manning misses significant portions of the season, the Colts entire campaign could quickly unravel. Their offense has been built for 13 years to run exclusively through him. Never mind the fact that his window of opportunity for a second Super Bowl title is closing fast.

The Colts Signing Kerry Collins Means Peyton Manning’s Injury Is For Real

x You have successfully emailed the post.

The Indianapolis Colts signed veteran QB Kerry Collins today, according to multiple reports.

The move suggests that all is not well with Peyton Manning, who is recovering from a neck injury but was always expected to start against the Texans on opening day.

The Collins signing draws Manning’s status into question.

There is a glass half-full interpretation — the Colts two backups have been horrendous in the preseason, so this may just be a precaution.
