LISTEN: Three Unreleased Nirvana Tracks Out Ahead Of 20th Anniversary

  x You have successfully emailed the post. Love it or hate it grunge music defined an era in the not-so-distant past, and Nirvana was the band that embodied that sound better than any other.

Pitchfork reports that next Tuesday, Universal will commemorate Nirvana's seminal album, Nevermind with a deluxe reissue package. You can buy it as a one DVD/four CD box set, as two deluxe CDs, as one-CD remaster or four LPs.

Until then, we have something almost as good. For your streaming enjoyment, Seattle radio station 107.7 The End posted three previously unreleased tracks that will be included on the reissues. There's a demo version of "Breed", an early version of "On Plain", and a live, high energy version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Horses Numbered 9, 1, And 1 Won The First Three New York Races On 9/11 Anniversary

Ten years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, horses donning the numbers 9, 1, and 1 won Belmont Park’s first three races Sunday.

The New York racetrack, a staging area for workers and emergency vehicles in the days following the World Trade Center attack, held a special ceremony prior to Sunday’s events.

But that was just a precursor to the day’s improbable tribute.

David Jacobson, the trainer of the day’s first two winners, told the New York Post the odds “were probably about a million to one.”

Unfortunately, for any bettor lucky enough to select the pick three, it paid just $18.60 for a $2 bet.

Grandfather Of Three Becomes The Oldest Person To Swim The English Channel

Allsopp, wearing a pink swimming cap, trains for the big day in an interview with BBC.

At 70 years and four months, retired surgeon Roger Allsopp became the oldest person to swim the English Channel today.

Allsopp swam the Channel from Dover in northern France in 17 hours and 51 minutes, beating the previous record set in 2004 by George Brunstad, the uncle of Matt Damon.   

"I've never been one to sit on my laurels. Retirement has been wonderful but I know how important it is to keep active in mind and body to live a healthy retirement and so I set myself physical challenges to ensure that I keep as fit and healthy as I can. This record-breaking swim will hopefully raise a large proportion of the £750,000 that is needed to fund cancer research. The great thing about this money is that it will all go direct to purchasing this technology," said Allsopp (via The Independent). 

This isn't Allsopp's first time at the rodeo. The grandfather of three became the oldest Briton to swim the Channel in 2006, at the age of 65.

Gold Plunges $200 In Three Days (GLD)

Gold just traded at $1704, down from from a record $1913 on Monday.

The 11% fall has been attributed mainly to a return to riskier assets.

Stocks are up around the world, led by 3% gains today in Shanghai. The Global Dow is up 4% this week.
