More Than 180 Wildfires Are Burning Out Of Control In Texas With No End In Sight

The Texas wildfires continue ravaging the state as winds from tropical storm Lee, drought, and firefighter fatigue hamper efforts to slow the flames.

The L.A. Times reports that more than 1,000 homes have been destroyed, and 5,000 residents evacuated as 181 separate fires burn out of control.

Almost two-dozen new fires overnight were triggered by downed power lines, rubbish fires, and in at least one case -- welding.

Nearly 120,000 acres have burned in the past week.
