14,000 Assault Rifle Rounds Are Missing From Fort Bragg North Carolina

Army investigators are searching for 14,000 rounds of ammunition missing from Fort Bragg, NC home to US Army 82nd Airborne Division and Special Forces teams.

CNN reports that Army spokesman Staff Sgt. Joshua Ford says the ammunition was noticed missing by the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 82 Airborne Wednesday night.

The missing bullets may be usd in both M-16 and M-4 assault rifles.

After commanders were notified Wednesday about 3,500 soldiers were placed on lockdown during an initial search, but nothing was found and the lockdown was lifted.

Lt. Colonel David Connolly of the 82nd Airborne Division says, "The incident is currently under investigation and all appropriate measures are being taken to locate the small arms ammunition that was discovered missing."

Carolina Panthers Tight End Jeremy Shockey Saved A Choking Teammate's Life Yesterday

Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey saved teammate Ben Hartsock from choking on a piece of pork yesterday.

After a chunk of pork tenderloin got caught in Hartsock's throat, someone tried and failed to give Hartsock the Heimlich.

When it become apparent that Hartsock couldn't breathe, Shockey hit him in the back and dislodged the pork.

The situation got "really scary" before Shockey stepped in, the Panthers told Hartsock's agent.

"He was in good spirits and he’s real thankful for Shockey," the agent said.

Hurricane Conditions Expected In Carolina Within 36 Hours

Directed at North Carolina's Outer Banks, the National Hurricane Center's designation means hurricane conditions are predicted within 36 hours.

The Associated Press reports the watch extends from north of Surf City to the Virginia border and accompanies a tropical storm watch for most of South Carolina's coast (via USA Today).

Irene is barreling unhindered through the Atlantic Thursday morning packing wind speeds of 115 mph and approaching the U.S. at about 12 mph.

When the storm hits the coast it's expected to be a Category 4 hurricane with winds of at least 131 mph, but exactly when that will be is the source of speculation for officials deciding when to tell residents to evacuate.

Southern states are not the only ones concerned. On course to pound the northeast, Mayor Bloomberg advised New York City Residents to monitor the Office of Emergency Management.

Northeastern cities could see up to 15 inches of rain as Irene travels north to Maine.
