The Census Department Just Released Some Shameful New Data About Poverty In America

x You have successfully emailed the post. The Census Bureau data is out on 2010, and it confirmed the recession's deep impact on Americans.

From the report: Household income dropped under $50,000 since 2009 to $49,44546.2 million people were under poverty in 2010, up from 43.6 million in 2009That's the largest number of people under poverty since 1959The nation's official poverty rate in 2010 jumped to 15.1 percent, up from 14.3 percent in 2009

The numbers go much further, telling a difficult story for many black and Hispanic Americans, who were some of the hardest impacted in 2010.

The San Francisco Police Department Is Launching An Internal Investigation Regarding The Search For The iPhone 5 (AAPL)

x You have successfully emailed the post.

The San Francisco Police Department is conducting an internal investigation regarding the the questionable search of a man's home for a missing iPhone 5, reports SF Weekly.

We previously reported on the incident when it was suspected that Apple employees were impersonating San Francisco police officers. It later came to light that Apple employees were accompanied to the house by the SFPD, who waited outside while the search was conducted.

From the SF Weekly's report:

"The incident has raised questions about police collusion with Apple, particularly since no official record of the incident was made by the officers involved. Questions also persist about whether Apple employees might have misrepresented themselves as police officers, which is a crime in California, as in most states."

The SFPD has very little to say to illuminate the matter, but if you're interested, check out SF Weekly's article.

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed an anti-trust lawsuit to block AT&T's planned $39 billion merger T-Mobile.

“AT&T’s elimination of T-Mobile as an independent, low- priced rival would remove a significant competitive force from the market,” DOJ said in its filing obtained by Bloomberg.

AT&T shares are down about 4 percent on the news, while those of Sprint — seen as losing out if the merger were to go through — are up over 7 percent.
