Occupy Wall Street protests went global today. At least 500 activists in Rome attacked police, two banks and a supermarket. Authorities responded with tear gas and water cannons.

Italian media reports that as many as 100,000 people rallied in the city Saturday, making one of the biggest OWS movements so far.

The following shots are from the violent Roman clashes between protesters, the Carabinieri and the tax police.

Most of us have seen these photos before, and we remember the sequence of events on the morning of September 11, 2001 by the minute.

At the same time they are painful images, and even after ten years they are hard to view.

PHOTOS: Check Out Amazing Pictures From London's Notting Hill Carnival

x You have successfully emailed the post.

With London still tense after riots earlier this month, police were taking no chances with this weekend's Notting Hill Carnival, flooding the zone with 6,500 police officers.

The carnival began in 1964 as a way to celebrate the culture of London's Afro-Caribbean communities. By the 1990s, it had become the biggest street party in Europe, regularly attracting over a million revelers from all over the globe.

In later years, the carnival became synonymous with gang violence, and despite police efforts, this year was no different, with one man stabbed.

Despite the violence, arrests were relatively low this year, and most people simply gathered to enjoy the incredible costumes, reggae soundsystems, and amazing jerk chicken.

PHOTOS: Incredible Pictures Of Iceland's Beautiful Harpa Concert Hall

x You have successfully emailed the post.

Iceland's dazzling Harpa Concert Hall opened in May of this year, barely three years after the country was decimated by in one of Europe's most devastating banking failures.

However, the economic crisis didn't deter Olafur Eliasson, an artist who worked on the buildings facade, with the 52-year-old Henning Larsen Architects practice to create a building that truly ranks as a work of art.

Elaisson is best known for "The Weather Project" in London's Tate Modern Gallery, another piece of art that used light and reflection to make something otherworldly.

Rowan Moore of The Guardian writes, "It is indeed crystalline and, according to the official explanations, inspired by Iceland's volcanic geology. It glitters. It is a bit disco. It has something of Brezhnev-era Soviet architecture, but with bling."

The building looks set to become Iceland's premier music venue, and also houses four main conference halls and has several meeting rooms, the largest of which accommodates over 1,800 guests, and restaurants and bars.

Around one million have lost power and at least eight have died as Hurricane Irene moves up the East Coast.

Right now New York City is strangely empty after 375,000 were evacuated and most people buckle down at home. The storm is supposed to hit here late Saturday or early Sunday.

If you have pictures to share of this historic hurricane, please send them to GLubin@businessinsider.com.
